Kinamo measures the used bandwidth directly on the switch port where your server is connected during the installation of your machine in our datacenter. We will measure both incoming and outgoing traffic. On a monthly basis, we will verify whether the used bandwidth has not crossed the allowed limits. If this is the case, the additional bandwidth usage will be invoiced at the end of the month. You may order additional bandwidth at a profitable rate for the next month.
Depending on your contract, your server bandwidth will be caclulated either by using real data traffic, as expressed in monthly Gigabytes, or by looking at your server's peak consumption of bandwidth, as expressed in Mbps.
Peak consumption is calculated by applying the 95th percentile method, which is a hosting industry standard. The top 5 percent of your bandwidth peaks will be substracted to determine your bandwidth level, so that occasional peaks will not lead to additional billing.
You can consult your statistics for bandwidth usage any time by visiting the Kinamo selfcare website. The graphs on the website will show you real data traffic and peak traffic. The red line on the graphs shows the 95th percentile of your bandwidth consumption. Using the graphs, you'll be able to determine if it's more advantageous for you to be billed in GB per month or in Mbps.
