For the Hannover Messe 2023 exhibition, we created a mixed reality application to show visitors Siemens Simcenter Amesim's battery development capabilities.

Simcenter Amesim is a system simulation platform that enables design engineers to virtually evaluate and optimize system performance. evaluate and virtually optimize system performance. It helps to optimize the dynamic performance of mechatronic systems mechatronic systems, analyze energy consumption, design and validate validate the control laws of electrical devices for the automotive, aerospace, industrial machinery and industrial sectors. automotive, aerospace, industrial machinery and equipment equipment.

On the Siemens stand was the real Ecurie Aix Electric racing car. When visitors looked at the racing car through the Oculus Quest 2 headset, they could see its CAD model on the top of the car. In the application, they could find out about the definition of battery requirements, battery cooling, battery charging requirements, thermal runaway and battery aging battery ageing and degradation.

For each topic, users are asked to drag and drop an icon drag and drop to a specific location above the race car to unlock the extra level of the application. additional application level. After successfully activating a subject, they can first inspect, hold and rotate the relevant CAD models in mixed reality inspect, hold and rotate them. In connection with each topic, we showed we showed visitors how Amesim software is the solution they need to create a "digital twin". Visitors were shown how Amesim software is the solution they need to create a"digital twin" on which they can run simulations and optimizations.

From wild concept to concrete application

Kinamo imagined the concept and developed the application in just a few weeks.
We took the MRTK community component set, originally developed for the Microsoft Hololens, and deployed it for the Oculus Quest 2. Through a combination of custom programming and Passthrough, we are able to create a link between the race car physically present on the stand and a VR layer on top of what visitors see in real time.

We chose to work with the Oculus Quest 2 to create a marketing tool that can be used easily and at very limited cost (compared to other headsets) by other Siemens marketing teams.
