What is network bonding on a dedicated server configuration?

Category: Managed servers

setup

Bonding of network interfaces makes sure that the two physical network interfaces of your server are seen as one virtual interface on the operating system. This virtual network interface can be used and set up as a normal network card.

Network bonding offers several advantages: if one of the network interfaces fails, the virtual interface will remain online without interruption. There is also another advantage: the bandwidth of both the physical adapters can be used as one interface what doubles the capacity of your connection.

Our dedicated Windows and Linux servers always have multiple network interfaces that can be configured with bonding on demand. The connection of the network interfaces with our switches makes sure you have a guaranteed redundant connection to the Internet without a single point of failure (SPOF).
