What is BGP routing?

Category: Managed servers

BGP

Most of the connections to the Internet are made by a single office or consumer connection with a static route. This means you only have one connection to the Internet, mainly the one from your house or office to the Internet provider.

By using the BGP routing protocol and having at least two connections to the Internet we can dynamically determine which network traffic flows to which connection. This allows BGP routers to use bandwidth optimally in order to avoid network interruptions and prefer faster connections.

Our routing policy is mainly focussed on guiding European aimed traffic towards Internet eXchange points with as main advantage the fast connections and by guiding trans-Atlantic traffic to the major network operators. This offers you the optimal connectivity for your rack and/or server.
