The annual Science Day, the largest science event in Flanders and Brussels, took place on Sunday, November 24, 2024. During this day, several institutions and organizations opened their doors to the public, including KU Leuven.
In cooperation with Siemens, KU Leuven organized an activity under the theme"Driving to the future, the vehicles of tomorrow" that let visitors discover how the vehicles of tomorrow are designed and developed using innovative technologies.
One of the highlights was the SimRod, a demo car equipped with advanced hardware and sensors from Siemens. This car demonstrated how Simcenter integrates test and simulation data to improve crucial properties such as durability and vibro-acoustics. Visitors got a concrete insight into how this integrated approach helps companies develop vehicles that meet the demands of the future.
In addition, visitors were also able to learn about the Simcenter Mixed Reality application developed by Kinamo. This application offered an innovative and interactive experience where a virtual layer was placed over a physically present car. For example, visitors could remove a virtual rim and discover how Siemens' software, supports companies in finding the optimal balance between different development aspects, such as aerodynamics, design and production efficiency.
Together with the Siemens Simcenter team, Sophie from Kinamo was also present to explain to visitors. In an accessible and enthusiastic manner, they explained how Simcenter's comprehensive suite of simulation and testing solutions, enable companies to accurately predict product performance using a digital twin.
Although Kinamo was not an official partner of the event, we were proud to attend thanks to our partnership with Siemens.
