Developments in the automotive industry related to vehicle electrification are creating new challenges within the sector and also require new research techniques, analyses and additional insights.
Siemens Digital Industries supports manufacturers in the sector including from a test facility dedicated specifically to Vehicle Energy Management (VEM) in Lyon, France.
Kinamo was asked to visualize this non-publicly accessible facility in an engaging way so Siemens Digital Industries customers can gain insight into the operation, infrastructure and capabilities of the VEM test lab without having to make a trip to Lyon, France.
Thanks to a combination of high-resolution 360° photography, VR interactivity and a fully elaborate guided tour, visitors can go through the various spaces in the VEM lab and experience for themselves the services Siemens Digital Industries can provide. An ideal showcase!
After laying out a guided tour scenario, the various spaces of the VEM facility were visualized with high-resolution 360° photos. The high resolution of the rooms was one of the important points in this facility tour, so that all aspects of the rooms could also be explained in detail.
During the shooting, videos of product engineers explaining more about the processes in operation in the facility were also recorded. The necessary scenarios and scripts for the video shooting were also prepared by our team.
After post-production of 360° images and videos, the tour was built within the specially developed Content Management System and provisioned with the necessary informative markers in combination with embedded video, quotes and text and explanations.
The facility tour also had to be available for an international audience and was therefore developed in 4 languages: English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
A virtual visit using professional 360° photography is very captivating and provides an immersive experience.
Kinamo went a step further and also developed a virtual reality version where visitors can stand and look around "in the rooms" of the Vehicle Energy Management facility using Meta (Oculus) Quest 2 glasses or a Google Cardboard, making the overall experience even more interactive and realistic.
